I currently teach at The Good Shepherd Center while working on my Masters in Teaching. I have been teaching for over a year now and find that it has its rewards. I enjoy working with adolescents usually adolescent females. My goal is to obtain my Masters in Teaching and Rehabilitation Counseling and open a group home and training center for young women and families. My expectation for the class is to continue to grow as an educator and develop methods to help readers retain information that is approachable and meanigful.

Your comments were very good and informational. You listened to the comments and can really tell what the author was saying. Literacy is a must for all teachers no matter what subjects they teach. Students must know and understand that literacy is important in all curriculum matters because they will see it later in life whether driving in a car or going to the supermarket for foods. We must read information about foods, compare prices, to fix applicances, buy property, etc. that will affect our health and wealth.
ReplyDeleteBetter prepared teachers and staff will impact students' ability to use literacy in all subject areas improving understanding and learning.

ReplyDeleteMs.Morris describes the need for students to receive and be instruct in literacy instruction in every individual content area, a requirement for students to understand the complexities of individual subject areas.
If all teachers felt the way that you do then all of the efforts to make AYP would come to fruition. Time is so essential – it is clear that you understand the importance of this fact. Thank You.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with your views. In this day and age in education, too much emphasis is placed upon standardized testing and less on actually educating children. Teaching a child to read and understand goes so much farther than mastering how to pass a test.
ReplyDeleteLiteracy cannot be the responsiblity of the language arts or english teacher. Students must also understand that literacy just doesn't happen in English class, but in all subject areas. More so than just making AYP, students need to have a mastery of literacy in their every day lives
